About the role

This Tech Lead position at GR8 Tech focuses on the mobile frontend architecture for their B2B iGaming platforms. The role requires defining high-level mobile system architecture, ensuring stability, modularity, and performance, and translating business objectives into technical blueprints. Success means establishing engineering benchmarks for app performance and making informed decisions on system trade-offs to support millions of active players.

The role involves hands-on contribution to critical systems, leading incident response for production issues, and optimizing app performance. Key responsibilities include evaluating new mobile technologies, designing migration strategies for legacy codebases, and enforcing mobile security standards. This position requires a balance between technical quality and delivery speed, with full ownership of technical decisions and outcomes.

Collaboration is central to this role, requiring alignment with Product Managers and other Team Leads to integrate technical roadmaps with product release schedules. The Tech Lead will also standardize CI/CD pipelines and app submission processes across mobile teams. A significant aspect is people leadership, mentoring senior and mid-level engineers, guiding technical development plans, and fostering an engineering culture through knowledge sharing and architecture reviews.

Skills that matter here

  • Flutter: This role requires over three years of dedicated experience with Flutter/Dart to drive mobile architecture and contribute hands-on code.
  • Dart: Deep mastery of Dart internals, including isolates, async programming, and null safety, is essential for optimizing app performance and handling real-time data.
  • iOS: Hands-on experience with native iOS (Swift) development is a must-have, particularly for add-to-app integrations and understanding the mobile ecosystem.
  • Android: Hands-on experience with native Android (Kotlin) development is a must-have, complementing Flutter expertise for comprehensive mobile solutions.
  • WebSockets: Experience with WebSockets and long-lived connections is crucial for handling high-frequency, real-time data in iGaming applications.
  • protobuf: Familiarity with protobuf serialization, alongside JSON, is necessary for efficient data handling in high-scale mobile environments.

Who this role suits

  • A senior mobile engineer with extensive experience in Flutter/Dart, capable of defining and owning mobile architectural strategy.
  • Someone who thrives on solving complex scale problems, balancing technical quality with delivery speed in a fast-paced environment.
  • A leader who enjoys mentoring engineers, fostering technical growth, and driving engineering culture through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • An individual with a strong understanding of mobile security standards and real-time data handling, specifically within the iGaming context.
